Patina 250 & Jake's Cafe
Buffalo, New York
Owner: Delaware North
Project Value: $3.1 million
Completed: July 2016
Architect: Shea Design
Size: 7,000 sq. ft.
With the new Delaware North headquarters completed at the end of 2015 in the heart of downtown Buffalo, the next step was to complete a high-end hotel and restaurant. Patina 250 is the flagship restaurant in the Westin Hotel designed to offer a luxurious dining experience in the city of Buffalo for hotel clientele, Delaware North employees and community patrons alike. Our team members delivered this project under a construction management at-risk contract to complete the fast-track fit-out for the high-end restaurant and coffee shop. This $3.1 million project was completed in only 3 months.
Two unique spaces make up this fit-out project - Patina 250 and Jake’s Cafe.
Patina 250 encompasses 5,000 sq. ft. for this 130-seat, hip and trendy dining facility, which adds a new level of sophistication to the restaurant industry in Buffalo. This fit-out work was built over a fully functioning kitchen and MEP space below, adding an extra level of difficulty for our team. For this reason, all penetration through the floor needed to be waterproofed to prevent any leaking. The project included storefront modifications, tie-ins to the main building’s MEP systems and top-notch finishes.
Patina 250 has a casually sophisticated, lounge-like atmosphere, offering a variety of areas to enjoy small bites, craft cocktails or a full dining experience. One unique feature of the space is a private dining room. This room features a French glass door entrance that can be closed for privacy and a feature wall that is shared with the restaurant. This wall serves as Patina’s wine storage and is a focal point for not only the private dining room, but the entire restaurant. Another unique feature of this space is the expo kitchen and cookline, which includes a wood fire grille that is visible from every area in the dining room.
Additionally, an adjoining 1,000 sq. ft. coffee shop – Jake’s café – was also part of the scope, which was completed concurrent to Patina 250.
