New Era Therapy Renovation
Orchard Park, New York
Owner: Buffalo Bills
Project Value: $3.7 million
Completed: April 2017
Architect: Populous
Duration: 4 months
As a continuation for upgrades, the Buffalo Bills decided to upgrade therapy space within the training facility. It needed to be completed around the NFL schedule. To begin, the training staff was having trouble visualizing the new space. Our virtual design team took the architects model, and assigned colors and materials to render the space. Then with the help of augmented reality glasses, we were able to show the space before the work was started.
During construction, one of the most challenging aspects was demolishing the existing pool and coordinating all the supporting MEP components beneath the new pools. Through logistical planning and constant safety awareness efforts, the pool walls and floor were demolished and were removed from the building without any significant disturbances to the operations of the training facility.
The 7,500 sq. ft. space includes taping tables, a therapy tables, hydrotherapy area and offices. The new hydrotherapy area includes 4 pools - two Hydroworx 2000 hydrotherapy pools, two custom spa pools (hot and cold), a custom-built sauna and a separate room for a float pod. Construction started January 10, 2017 and was completed April 17, 2017.
